Art Institute of Chicago
Art Institute of Chicago
Chicago, IL
The Art Institute of Chicago has over one million square feet of conditioned space that is cooled, heated, and humidified to tight tolerances year round. With this comes high energy use. McGuire Engineers (MEPC) was retained by the Art Institute of Chicago to study the chilled water system and determine if there were any opportunities to save energy, but not at the expense of the art. MEPC performed a study and produced a report that identified multiple cost saving measures, some of which were implemented immediately. Currently, MEPC is working with the museum to find creative financing strategies such as building manufactured based financing, to complete additional cost-saving energy projects.
