The John Buck Company retained McGuire Engineers (MEPC) to perform a LEED EBOM (Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance) feasibility study for its Parkway North Campus in Chicago’s northwestern suburbs. The campus includes five multi-use buildings with a total of one million square feet. The purpose of the study was to determine which of the buildings could obtain LEED Existing Building certification.

LEED Feasibility Study

ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS

  • MEPC provided energy improvement strategies and no or low cost improvements for LEED credits.

  • After looking at all five buildings, MEPC recommended that the John Buck Company proceed with pursuing LEED EBOM for two of the five buildings since they were the only buildings that could easily meet the water efficiency prerequisite and already had a high enough ENERGY STAR score in order to meet the LEED prerequisite.
